When I tell people I’m a wedding photographer, I usually get one of two reactions; either they say how cool my job is (it really is) or they tell me a wedding photographer horror story. I hate hearing these stories, but they happen with astonishing frequency. I take the responsibility of documenting my clients’ weddings very seriously, so I get upset when I hear about other people in the industry that take their responsibilities to their clients for granted. It’s my job to photograph a huge milestone in my clients’ lives and they are counting on me to do a good, professional, job. It’s not just showing up and clicking a button; it’s being present and paying attention to the hundreds of little moments that make up a wedding day and capturing them so that the bride and groom and their families can look back and remember.

So, when I heard what happened to Dan and Sarah on their wedding day, I knew I had to help. Their photographer never showed up and when they contacted the company, they sent out another photographer that didn’t get there until AFTER the ceremony! Dan and Sarah had to rely on friends and family at the wedding to take photos of this huge moment in their lives… a moment they wanted their friends and family to witness, not work. Even after the photographer did show up, they produced less than satisfactory results. Dan and Sarah were obviously (and quite rightly) upset… there wasn’t ONE SINGLE photo that they liked! When they contacted me, there was no question in my mind that I would do a new portrait session with them. I want them to have photos they can cherish and remember their wedding day with happiness and not frustration.

We decided to do a “Day After Shoot” in which Sarah and Dan were able to get dressed up in their wedding duds again and take some new photos. And an added benefit of doing a day after session, was that we could include Sarah’s horse, Bo, in the shoot! The whole shoot was fun and went smoothly, but more than that, it was an opportunity for Sarah and Dan to have some new wedding photos. I’m glad they called me and honored that I could attempt to make the situation better… they deserve it.

Congratulations, Sarah and Dan!
