I was talking with a friend of mine the other day (who also happens to be a photographer) and we were discussing how we still get nervous before shooting a wedding. It’s not that we think we’ll do a poor job or anything, it’s just knowing that you are responsible for documenting one of the biggest days in someone’s life… it’s a big job and you want to make sure that you do your absolute best.
That’s how I was feeling walking into Kristen’s hotel room the morning of her wedding day. I was excited, but nervous. I wanted to do a good great job! But, the thing about Kristen, is that she can put you at ease the second you meet her. Her sense of humor and easy going attitude make her easy to love. While Kristen, Stephanie (her fabulous Maid of Honor), and Kristen’s mom, Roberta were getting ready, and I was photographing the morning, The Kardashians were on the TV in the background and it was hard not to be at ease.
Kristen and Jason, together, make a great couple. They balance each other out and compliment each other perfectly. Jason is quiet and a little more reserved, but his face lights up when Kristen is around. They both smile more and laugh more when the other is around.
Their wedding took place at The Basilica at Notre Dame (Kristen’s alma mater) and, despite the fact that it was 70 degrees only two days earlier, it was snowing and about 30 degrees on Saturday. Even though it may not have been the weather they had been thinking of when they planned the wedding, the big fluffy flakes that came down during their portrait session were just beautiful and, I think, really added something to the photos.
The whole wedding day was filled with smiles, fun, and love… I don’t think you could ask for a better combination.
Congratulations, Kristen and Jason… I hope your life together is picture perfect!
