Big Day: Jillian and Donnie

What a whirlwind of a weekend. Since 3:00PM on Friday, I’ve photographed 9 family photos, attended Notre Dame’s commencement (congrats to my little brother, Ben!), freelanced a dinner at Notre Dame, and photographed Jillian and Donnie’s (beautiful/awesome/fun/sweet) wedding. And while I may be completely exhausted now, I am so happy and grateful that I got to photograph all of these wonderful people this weekend. I’m especially grateful to Jillian and Donnie and their families for including me in their wedding.

I think I referred to these two as Barbie and Ken in their engagement post and the allusion still fits. They do make one really good looking couple. More than that though, they are two of the kindest people I’ve been lucky enough to work with. Even when things went a little awry (i.e. a missing limo and the wrong cake), Jillian and Donnie just rolled with the punches and kept a pair of perfect smiles on their faces. They are so much in love and you could just tell that they were are so excited to start their lives together. It was also obvious how excited both families were to be in each others’ lives. I even overheard Jillian’s mom before the ceremony thanking her for marrying Donnie and bringing him into their family. Talk about love!

As you can see, Jillian and Donnie are one really special couple. So, when the bakery did mess up their cake order, I wanted to do something to make it up to them. I thought about getting a small cake delivered to them later in the week, but found out that they were heading back home to Indianapolis the next day, so that wouldn’t work. I then called up my friend (and SUPERWOMAN), Carrie Smith of 13 Sweets to see if she could help me out… and boy did she ever. She made a small two tier cake in Donnie and Jillian’s colors with the flavors of their original cake all in about 2.5 hours so I could deliver it to them AT THE RECEPTION. It was a wedding day miracle for a very deserving couple. Seriously though, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully pay Carrie back for helping me make this happen!

Congratulations, Jillian and Donnie! I LOVED being your wedding photographer!
